FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Lolly’s Locks, a nonprofit that provides high-quality wigs to economically disadvantaged cancer patients, is pleased to announce that Kate Pankoke of Project Runway and Project Runway All Stars, will be the fashion partner showing her collection from her line, Elaya Vaughn at Lolly’s Locks’ DC Night of Fashion on Thursday, May 18th at The Watergate Hotel. Pankoke will collaborate with Lolly’s Locks’ wig partner, Shevy Wigs, in order to present a wig-centric fashion show with the purpose of showing just how undetectable and beautiful a high-quality wig can truly be.
Elaya Vaughn Bridal is a designer-driven luxury bridal and evening wear line led by Project Runway All Star and award winning designer, Kate Pankoke. Since opening their doors in 2010, Elaya Vaughn has gained international prestige, earning praise for our quality materials & construction, luxurious embellishments, and unmatched fit. Elaya Vaughn caters to brides around the world who want a couture experience without having to pay couture prices. All of the gowns are made-to-order at their atelier in Washington, DC. Elaya Vaughn gowns are frequently featured at red carpet events & galas (including the Oscar’s red carpet), charity functions, and acclaimed media publications.
Pankoke is thrilled to be the fashion partner for this inspirational event. Like many people, she has a very personal connection to cancer. When Kate was just 6-years-old, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She watched her mother deal with losing her hair during chemotherapy after her mastectomy. Although at the time, Pankoke did not realize the impact of what was happening, as she got older, she came to understand how serious the situation was. Years later, Pankoke’s mother had shared how difficult it was to find a wig that looked realistic and yet affordable. At that time, insurance was not covering wigs. After visiting 3 different wig stores, a friend had suggested that she look where “dancers” get their wigs! Her mother is a breast cancer survivor of over 19 years. Kate lost her Aunt Marlo, her mother’s sister, to ovarian cancer in 2000.
Lolly’s Locks’ DC Night of Fashion will include an open-bar cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and a wig-centric fashion show. All proceeds from the event will benefit Lolly’s Locks’ wig recipients.
